  • Acer to Grow in Japanese PC Market

Acer is planning to strengthen its presence in Japanese PC market. Acer is going to launch its cheap Aspire Timeline Series in the country, aiming to move to the 5th place from the 6th place in the market in terms of market share. At this moment, the company is trialing NEC Corp., Fujitsu Ltd., Dell and Toshiba Corp., and HP in the highly competitive Japanese PC market.

Japanese market has been dominated by Japan based companies for long time. Japanese consumers are generally brand-conscious and keen to buy luxury products which represent status in Japan. However, due to current economic recession, the trend is gradually changing and people are turning to cheap products in order to stave off the treat posed by global economic slowdown. Now, Acer wants to capitalize on this changing trend in Japanese PC market by introducing Acer Aspire Timeline series laptop.

Let us now know what Timeline series laptops feature. First of all, Aspire Timeline series laptop is weighed at 1.6 kilograms and eight hour-battery life. Moreover, the laptop uses Intel’s cooling technology used for jet engine, and thus, keeping the laptops cool and all these features are available only for $960 (90,000 yen). I think, Acer has taken the right decision to launch a cheap laptop series in Japan at the right time when Japanese companies are also struggling to survive.
