  • Reshuffle at Toyota does not help Asian share market

In my part of the world, it is only 3 p.m. but in most Asian countries especially in South Asia and East Asia, it is already evening. Share markets in these countries have closed and I was looking at the CNN report about the Asian share market. Today, there was news of reshuffle in Tokyo about

Toyota Motor Corporation (TYO:7203) and it did not help Toyota’s share price. The Nikkei stock index fell by 2.4%. Australia’s AOI also saw a 3% decrease in the value and South Korean KOSPI index suffered 2.07%. Similar scenario emerged in Hong Kong Hang Seng Index and also in Shang Hai. So, today all the share markets in these Asian countries suffered. Now, Toyota has announced that Akio Toyoda will be the new President of the company from June 2009. It should be noted that Akio Toyoda is the grandson of Kiichiro Toyoda, the founder of Toyota Motor Corporation. So, it is his grandfather’s business and he has perhaps some kind of family emotion about it. Toyota is not doing that well in the last few months and hardly anyone knows if good time will come in 2009.
