Dell Recalling 4.1 Million Laptop Computer Batteries
No CommentsDell is going to recall 4.1 million laptop computer batteries in fear that those batteries could cause fire being overheat. This is the highest amount Dell is planning to recall in its 22-year history. Dell is blaming the lithium-ion batteries asserted in those recalled laptops. These batteries were produced by Sony. However, Dell declined to have any financial impact from the recall and ensured that it would go on receiving notebook batteries from Sony.
health-care-it reported:
Dell, which said it expects no financial impact from the recall, stated that it would keep Sony as a supplier of notebook batteries.
The batteries are also used by other computer makers, including Apple Computer, which said it was looking into the issue. Hewlett-Packard said its notebooks were not affected by the Dell recall, which was issued with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, CNN.com reported.
This is not the first time, Sony batteries are getting recalled. Sony batteries cased fire earlier. Both Dell and Sony are well-known companies in their respective fields. So, I think, they should become more aware about the safety of their products. However, I appreciate Dell that it is voluntarily recalling the suspected computer batteries which shows their utmost customer support.
