Sony to Launch Vaio NW Series in July

Sony is going to come up with its Vaio NW series laptops in July with some attractive features. Powered by 2.1GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, Sony Vaio NW laptop offers 4 to 8 GB memory besides 500 GB of storage capacity. It has HDMI port and gives 3 hours of battery life. The laptop runs on Windows Vista which is a 32-bit operating system. The problem is that a 64-bit operating system would have been perfect for a laptop with 8GB RAM. This is perhaps the only negative side of the laptop. Otherwise, Sony Vaio NW seems to be an attractive machine which provides 3 hours of battery life.

Let us now come to the price range. The laptop costs you £849 if you go for the best configuration available in Vaio NW series. Moreover, the screen resolution of the laptop could have been better than the current one and this does not go well with a laptop with such a high configuration. Considering its high configuration, Sony Vaio NW laptop is capable of doing complex works as well. That means, high-end users would most probably like the new laptop.

HP Pavilion dv7-2185DX Laptop Review

HP has come up with another attractive Pavilion series laptop with 6GB DDR2 memory alongside 500GB hard drive. HP Pavilion dv7-2185DX offers a standard 17.3-inch screen, but the display resolution of 16.2x10.9 does not go with its $1,299 price tag. Powered by 2.0GHz Intel Core 2 Quad Core processor, the desktop replacement laptop weighs 7.4 pounds without the AC adaptor. So, it is not the perfect one to carry on the go. The laptop also features 1GB ATI Mobility Radeon HD graphics. With eight-cell battery, the laptop comes with an attractive back up ability. During a video playback, the machine runs for more than 3 hours and it is really an attractive feature for a desktop replacing laptop.

The RAM size is really very attractive, but the laptop should have featured a Blu-ray drive in stead of a DVD burner, given his price tag. More importantly, a better resolution was much more important for a laptop of this price range than a 6GB memory. HP Pavilion dv7-2185DX supports Ethernet, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

The main problem of the laptop is that the features are not well-balanced. For example, it features 6GB RAM which is not quite necessary, but it misses out a Blu-ray drive and a satisfactory screen resolution for a desktop replacement. Users of desktop replacement would be looking for multimedia support at a satisfactory level. So, the features need to be revamped in future in order to make HP Pavilion dv7-2185DX much more attractive to the users.

Apple Gets 64,000 MacBook Orders from Maine State Government

Maine is the only state in the USA that provides laptops to every public school students. As part of the decision taken by state Department of Education, Maine state government has recently ordered 64,000 Apple MacBook laptops which will be distributed among the public school students and teachers. Reports also have it that the state is also going to order 7,000 MacBooks in the weeks to come and it seems that Apple MacBook has got a huge boost up after bagging the lucrative order.

Maine state government wants to expand the Maine Learning Technology Initiative, and the recent amount of order is part of that initiative. Technology has become a part and parcel and there is no other way to find an alternative for computer technology these days. So, I think, Maine state government has taken the right decision and this could lead other states to follow the same footstep of Maine government.

For Apple, it would like to keep getting orders in this way from Maine government, while other big companies like Dell and HP should also take the matter seriously because Apple has already made a big step in Maine. Now, if other states think the way Maine government is thinking, it could open up a big market for the laptop makers and Apple already has a strong position here. So, I think, the time has come other laptop makers like Dell and HP focus on this market too.

Difference between Netbook and Notebook Decreasing Very Fast

You do not need to be a computer analyst to understand why netbook selling is increasing very fast around the world. Most of the PC users just look for general functions in their computers like word processing, web surfing as well as listening music or watching movies. All these are pretty much available in a netbook which is much more comfortable to carry and handle when you are on the go.

So, it is pretty much understandable that most of the general users, except the high-end users, are less likely to find any difference between a typical netbook and a standard notebook. There was a time when you could find significant different between a notebook and a netbook, on the basis of the features and performance.

With quick technological advancement in this field, however, the difference between the two peers is getting closer day by day. For example, you can find 14 or 15 inch display in some netbooks without compromising on its portability. Moreover, some companies are offering standard laptop or notebook in the price range of a netbook, and thus, overlapping the core features of a netbook and a notebook.

Battery life is another very important thing and I can see that battery life in the netbooks is increasing gradually. I was really shocked to know that some notebooks with blu-ray drive is also offering in the typical price range of a netbook. The advancement has been possible because many laptop makers have stepped into ever-increasing netbook market and looking for a larger chunk of share in this market. Naturally, the competition in netbook market has also been increased over the last couple of years and it is expected that the competition among the laptop makers would continue to grow in the years to come.

Toshiba Mini NB205: Best 10-inch Netbook of All Time?

Netbook has become a latest craze in laptop world. Two things that are working in favor of netbook are: low price as well as portability. Netbook are much more comfortable than a standard laptop when it comes to portability. Starting from OLPC, many laptop makers including Asus, Acer, Dell, HP, Lenovo stepped into netbook market in order to grab a chunk of share of the fastest-growing netbook market.

Compared to the above mentioned netbook makers, Toshiba has made a late arrival in the netbook market. However, it has been reported that Toshiba’s Mini NB205 could be the best ever 10-inch netbook that has recently come into the market. The most attractive feature of Toshiba NB205 is its battery life of 8.5 hours which rare for a 10-inch laptop.

Another attractive feature of Toshiba Mini NB205 is its large keyboard and touchpad. Powered by Intel Atom N280 processor, the netbook comes with a 10.1 inch display as well as 160GB storage capacity. The system also features 1GB RAM which could be increased up to 2 GB RAM. It runs on Windows XP home edition operating system.

I think, it would be a perfect machine for those who would like to have a quality system while on the go without feeling the extra weight. 10-inch screen is pretty much understandable because the whole system is available only for $399 which is very much affordable. There is no doubt that this is an attractive package, but I do not think this is the best ever netbook available in the market.
